Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Momentum ("we," "us," "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Momentum mobile app and related services. Momentum is an AI-powered discipline mentor that helps you plan your day, build habits, and pursue your goals.
Using Momentum signifies that you've read and agreed to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account information
When you sign in (via Apple Sign-In), we receive a unique identifier from Apple and, if you've chosen to share it, your email address and name. We don't receive your Apple password.
1.2 Content you create in the app
- Schedules, time blocks, tasks, and their descriptions
- Journal entries, mood/energy ratings, and personal task notes
- Water intake logs and other tracking data
- Goals you set and templates you save, publish, or download
- Messages you send to the AI mentor
1.3 Preferences and settings
Your chosen mentor archetype, app language, wake/bed/check-in times, hydration goal, timezone, notification preferences, and similar configuration.
1.4 Subscription and purchase information
If you subscribe to Momentum Pro, we receive a transaction identifier from Apple's In-App Purchase system that confirms your subscription tier and renewal status. We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled by Apple.
1.5 Usage and diagnostic data
- AI usage — the number of AI tokens consumed per request, the model used, and the request type (chat / journal assist / etc.), used to enforce per-tier quotas.
- Crash reports and errors — if you've opted to share diagnostic information, anonymized crash reports and error stack traces are collected to help us fix problems. These reports identify you only by an opaque user ID and never include the content of your schedules, journals, or AI chats.
- Sync timing and connection state — used to keep your data consistent across devices.
1.6 Device information
Apple Push Notification (APNs) device tokens so we can deliver reminders and AI completion notifications to your device. We do not collect your phone number, IDFA, or precise location.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app — store your schedules, sync across devices, deliver notifications.
- To personalize the AI mentor's responses based on your performance data, journal entries, and preferences.
- To enforce subscription limits and trial quotas.
- To detect, prevent, and fix technical and security issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models without your explicit permission.
3. Third-Party Services
Momentum relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each handles your data according to its own privacy policy.
When you send a message to the AI mentor, the contents of that message — along with relevant context (your current schedule, recent journal entries, archetype preferences) — is sent to the active AI provider for processing. We do not control how these providers may use your data beyond what is stated in their privacy policies; we only forward what is necessary to generate the response.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- To the service providers listed above, strictly for the purposes of operating the app.
- To comply with a valid legal request, court order, or applicable law.
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of Momentum, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, sale of assets) — in which case the receiving party will be bound by terms at least as protective as these.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in encrypted databases hosted by Supabase. We use TLS for all data in transit between your device and our servers. Sensitive credentials (such as authentication tokens) are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Despite reasonable safeguards, no system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, to comply with tax or accounting obligations related to subscription transactions).
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccuracies in your data.
- Delete your account and associated data — available directly in Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Export a copy of your content. Contact us if you'd like a portable export.
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the app and your account.
Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We do not discriminate against users who exercise these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
Momentum is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the relevant age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below those ages. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than the one you reside in, including the United States. When we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it.
10. Templates Marketplace
When you publish a template to the marketplace, its title, description, hashtags, and schedule content become publicly visible to other Momentum users. Your username may be displayed alongside it. Your private schedules, journal entries, and notes are never published.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after the update means you accept the revised policy.
